The Government of Canada has released an internet copy of "Rustico : une paroisse de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard" by J.-HENRI BLANCHARD. This was published in August 1938.
I will refer to this as the "Rustico book" from here out. Years ago, our family took a vacation in PEI and found this book in a historical center in Charlottetown. We bought a copy and took it home. It is in French, but with the help of some friends we translated enough to glean our geneological connections.
The book contains a short history of Rustico and its families, but what astounded us when we found it, was the detailed genealogy of Rustico families from about 1720 to 1938! I had traveled to PEI with only the names of my great grandparents: Dominique Buote and Rufine Doiron from Rustico. What a delight it was to find their marriage referenced in the list.
Two branches of information were of most interest to me: The origins of the Buote name (mine in particular) and the links from my present family to the past, and to all you other Buote's.
According to the book, France Biot lived in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon and moved to Rustico about 1787. This family is the one documented in the Rustico Book. Here is where I found my great grandparents and therefore links to a family tree dating to the mid 1700's.
